Ar'ar Day One

This has been a full day 775km of Riding over 12 hours on the road. We started off from Kuwait at 6:30 am, 90 minutes later we were crossing the border at Salmi. First glitch of the day my CB stopped working, hopwever I am still able to listen to the gang. Over the course of the day we made 4 stops for refueling, and two for food. We were stopped 3 times by the Saudi police inquiring about our destination. At the last 50 km before Ar'ar we got a police escort to the city. The scenery was dull, the average cruising speed was 130km/h. We are spending the night at Al Bustan Palace in Ar'ar, and yes they do have wifi. Tomorrow is the second leg to Damascus with a distance of 750km to cover.

The picture is a reflection of the scenery over thewhole day,and 300km more to go tomorrow

I went to Oman by car a month or so ago. There's a ~1000km road connecting Muscat with Salalah. It's called route 31 and it's pretty much exactly like that picture, so I know what you went through. Your trip sounds much more exciting, though. The countries you're passing through are more interesting. Good luck with the Syrian authorities, though. I find it hard to believe Syria is not going to be annoying because of them.

I have been from Dubai to Beirut on on 22 june 2008 with my family. We drove from Dubai to Hafar al Batin, we slep there. Next day we crossed Jordan border and slept in Amman. The next day we got to Beirut!!
It was a fantastic trip.
We will be back mid august. I would be targeting Beirut to ArAr on the first day. Would you, by chance have the phone number of the Bustan Palace in ArAr?
Thanks
